How I will help
Our group will have a massive impact on the local villages of Kenya. We will be doing conservation work, building traditional 'Muhaka' houses, building classroom foundations for new schools and decorating classrooms in schools that need it. This will really help out the locals of the area and they will be over the moon with their new houses and the renovation of their local schools! We will be doing all this in the month we are there! Here is some more information about the impact I will make...
HOme and school improvement
The Muhaka village remains one of the poorest communities in the area and many of its residents can't afford to repair or rebuild their houses, that are slowly deterioriaiting over time. The school is in the the state of disrepair. I will be helping by building traditional 'Muhaka' houses for people and supporting the ongoing renovation of the school by making furniture, laying foundations, plastering and decorating.
Conservation work
Human wildlife conflict is an ongoing and significant issue here. This is threatening the future for many important species of animals such as elephants and lions. I'll be getting involved in driving people to promote peace between the community and the local wildlife. To do this, we will be improving natural waterholes, planting indigenous trees, building elephant deterrant fences and taking part in educational environmental workshops. I'm doing all this to safeguard the future for these animals of Kenya.
